Krishak Bandhu is a welfare scheme launched by the Government of West Bengal, which aims to provide financial assistance and insurance coverage to West Bengal’s farmers.

Under this scheme, the farmers of West Bengal state get financial aid of ₹10,000 per acre and a life insurance cover of ₹2,00,000 for their families. This scheme is designed to support cultivation and safeguard farmers’ income. With the help of financial assistance, the farmers can manage their agricultural expenses, such as buying seeds, fertilizers, and other farming needs, without getting into a debt trap by taking loans.

The Government of West Bengal started this initiative scheme, Krishak Bandhu, under the Department of Agriculture on 1 January 2019 as a welfare and social security program for farmers and sharecroppers. This scheme mainly aims to help the farmers of West Bengal to ease the burden on farmers and increase crop production.

The farmers get ₹10,000 per acre every year, which is divided into two parts – One half is given during the Kharif season and the other half is given during the Rabi season. This amount can be helpful for the farmers to buy agricultural products such as seeds, fertilizers, etc. The farmer also gets a ₹2,00,000 life insurance, which the family of the farmer can benefit from after the death between age 18 to 60 years of the beneficiary farmer under this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for Krishak Bandhu- কৃষক বন্ধু

To be eligible to apply and get the benefits of Krishak Bandhu (কৃষক বন্ধু), one should fall under the given eligibility criteria.

1. Applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal.
2. The age of the farmer should not be less than 18 and not more than 60 years.
3. A farmer should either have a cultivable land of up to 2 acres or be a sharecropper on someone else’s land.
4. The farmer must be actively engaged in farming activities. 
5. To take the insurance cover, the person should be a legal heir of the farmer, and the insurance cover will only be given if the farmer has died between 18-60 years and had applied for the scheme.

To apply for the Krishak Bandhu scheme farmers must have the required documents for this scheme. The required documents are given below.

1. Voter ID Card
2. Aadhaar Card
3. Bank account Passbook
4. Passport-size Photo
5. Records of Right (RoR) or Patta Record
6. Farmer Registration Certificate
7. Proof of residence

Krishak Bandhu Registration Process 2025

• Krishak Bandhu Online Apply –

To apply online, eligible farmers can follow the steps given below.

1. Firstly, the farmers need to visit the official website, krishakbandhu.net   
2. Then enter your mobile number and verify it with OTP, and register. After registering, you will get your login ID.
3. Fill the registration form carefully and upload the required documents.
4. After filling the form, do the Aadhaar e-KYC and submit the form.
5. Now you have registered under the scheme.

• Krishak Bandhu Yojana Offline Apply –

To apply offline, eligible farmers can follow the steps given below.

1. Firstly, you will need to visit the nearest gram panchayat or the agriculture office of your block. 
2. Then you will be required to ask for an application form for the Krishak Bandhu Scheme.
3. In the form, you will need to fill in your details carefully and paste a passport-size photo of yours.
4. After filling out the form, attach a copy of the required documents with the form.
5. Submit the duly filled and signed application form back to the gram panchayat or the agriculture office. 
6. Get an acknowledgement slip from the authority.

1. To check application status, visit the official website krishakbandhu.wb.gov.in.

2. Now, click on the “Farmer’s search” option.

3. Now select one of the following: Aadhar Card / Voter ID Card / Bank a/c no. / KBID / Mobile number / Acknowledgement ID, and enter the details too.

4. Now fill in the captcha and click on search.

5. Now you will get the status of your application, payment details, and payment status.

After your application is approved, you will receive an email and sms with your unique Krishak ID. If by chance the farmer lost the ID, he can retrieve it on the official website by clicking on the Krishak Bandhu ID number check and checking the Aadhar card option.

Benefits of Krishak Bandhu Scheme- কৃষকবন্ধুর উপকারিতা

The Krishak Bandhu (কৃষক বন্ধু প্রকল্প) is a lifeline for thousands of farmers in West Bengal. It just doesn’t help the farmers during crop production, but it also helps the farmers during an untimely loss. Other than this, there are many more benefits that this scheme provides, which are given below.

1. This scheme provides financial assistance to farmers who have more than 1 acre of cultivable land will receive ₹10000 per acre upto 2 acre in two parts one in kharif and other in rabi season.
2. Farmers with less than 1 acre of land will receive ₹4000 per year in two parts one in kharif and other in rabi season.
3. An insurance cover will be given to the farmer in case of death of farmer. The legal heir can claim ₹2 lakh in the event of the death of the farmer aged between 18 and 60 years.
4. A one-time amount of ₹2 lakh will also be given for permanent disability of the farmer due to an accident.
5. The financial help will be received in the bank account of the farmer with the DBT(Direct Benefit Transfer) method.
